Calon Ségur

Located in the northernmost part of the Grand Crus Classés in the Médoc, the Maison Chellon is a contender for the oldest estate in Saint-Estèphe. In the 18th century, it was owned by Nicolas Alexandre de Ségur, who also owned Ch Latour and Ch Lafite, and was quoted as saying: "I make wine in Lafite and Latour, but my heart is in Calon." This phrase is still engraved on the label of Château Calon Ségur, while the heart motif still appears on the logo of the estate.

The Marquis de Calon Ségur 2016

From a 50-hectare vineyard, of which 45 hectares are in production. The average age of the vines is 22 years and they are planted on gravelly clay soils. The 2016 harvest took place from 25 September to 15 October. The wine is aged in barrels for 17 months (30% in new barrels). Marquis de Calon Segur 2016 is a blend of 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon.
